About Hynek Fine Woodworking

Hynek Fine Woodworking grew from a love of traditional craftsmanship and a desire to create pieces that invite us to slow down.

From sculpted furniture shaped by hand to the quiet geometry of Japanese Kumiko, each piece is made individually in my South Carolina shop with attention to the wood, the details, and the person or place it is being made for.

Maloof-inspired Sculptural Furniture

Each piece is individually handcrafted, inspired by the organic, sculptural forms of Sam Maloof. Flowing curves, careful joinery, and thoughtfully selected hardwoods come together to create furniture meant to be both used and enjoyed for generations.

Japanese Kumiko Art

Rooted in the traditional Japanese art of Kumiko, each piece is assembled from precisely fitted wooden pieces to create intricate geometric patterns. From small decorative pieces to larger framed panels, each is designed to invite a moment of quiet contemplation.

Custom Woodworking Commissions

Created in conversation with you, custom commissions begin with your needs, your space, and the way the piece will be used. Together we establish the dimensions, function, and wood species, while I guide the design and craftsmanship that bring the piece to life.
