Kumiko is the Japanese art of creating intricate geometric patterns from precisely fitted pieces of wood, traditionally joined without nails or fasteners. In my work, I draw upon this tradition to create wall art that invites the eye to slow down—to notice the wood, the pattern, the light, and the quiet spaces between.
